Mental health is a topic which has been more widely spoken about during the pandemic as many people have found themselves struggling with their mental health. The United Synagogue is proud to support the Mental Health Awareness Shabbat (MHAS) on January 7-8 brought to you by Jami, the mental health service for the Jewish community.
The MHAS, launched in 2017, aims to raise the profile of mental health in the Jewish Community. The MHAS falls annually on Shabbat “Bo”, the weekly Torah portion which includes the Plague of Darkness, which has resonance with mental illness.
The MHAS was initiated with Jami by Rabbi Daniel Epstein when he was at Cockfosters and N Southgate Synagogue. He will be leading a special Kabbalat Shabbat service on Friday 7 January from Western Marble Arch Synagogue where he now serves. You'll be able to watch it live on TheUS.tv.
Jami also has a range of events taking place on Zoom. You can find the full programme on their website by clicking here.
