We were pleased to welcome representatives from Yom Hashoah UK and the Board of Deputies to our office last week. They presented us with a new Legacy board which they have produced to aid Holocaust remembrance.
As, sadly, Holocaust survivors are becoming ever fewer in number, and the unique tragedy of the Holocaust passes from memory to history, Yom Hashoah UK is asking shuls, schools and communal organisations to display a Legacy board in a prominent place asking our community to make 3 pledges – ‘to remember’ (by honouring the memory of the six million Jews who were murdered in the Holocaust), ‘to tell’ (by ensuring future generations, both Jewish and not, learn about the tragedy of the Holocaust) and ‘to life’ (by leading good lives and speaking out against antisemitism and discrimination.
We encourage each of our communities who have their own premises to consider displaying a board. By displaying the board, the United Synagogue commits to the Legacy campaign’s call for us to recognise “our responsibility to pass on this Legacy from Generation to Generation”. You can view the board here.
