I was very moved listening to a local GP on the radio this week. Ignoring the hullaballoo over Christmas parties, hospital beds and vaccine passports, she said, very simply: the best thing you can do to help the NHS right now is to get a booster.
Not only might it stop you getting ill, she said, or your friends and family getting ill, but it could mean fewer hospital beds being taken up by people seriously ill with Covid who wouldn’t have got ill had they had a vaccine.
The Chief Rabbi said this week that getting a booster jab was a 'religious imperative' and called on everyone to get the vaccine as soon as they possibly can.
I can’t begin to imagine the strain medical professionals are under right now. So to help the NHS hit the challenging target of vaccinating a million people a day, today we’re putting out a call for volunteers.
In partnership with the Jewish Volunteering Network, we’re looking for people who can spare a few hours to help their local vaccination centre. Roles include stewarding, check-in and vaccine admin personnel.
For our members across Essex, Hertfordshire and London, and for our friends in Manchester, please click here to see the latest JVN roles.
You&US readers based elsewhere should click on this link to find stewarding opportunities in your area. Thank you for your time.
