The news of the war in Ukraine continues to outrage and sadden. Russia’s invasion has already taken the lives of hundreds of civilians. At least a million people have fled the country due to the fighting. Please join us online tonight at 7pm (and on-demand afterwards) for a special Ukraine crisis briefing with journalist, broadcaster and author Tim Marshall, Emeritus Professor of War Studies at King’s College London, Sir Lawrence Freedman and World Jewish Relief’s programmes director, Stacey Swimer, who will discuss how we can help the people of Ukraine. Dayan Menachem Gelley, the Rosh Beth Din of the London Beth Din, will open the evening with some words of inspiration and Rabbi Piny Hackenbroch, Chair of the Rabbinic Council of the United Synagogue will lead us in Tehillim (psalms).

Purim is on its way!
On a more positive note, today is Rosh Chodesh Adar II which means that Purim is just two weeks away. Our communities are gearing up for another wonderful celebration, particularly after the challenges posed by the pandemic. We can't wait to welcome people back to shul to hear the megillah, enjoy food together, fancy dress parades and entertainment.
The US Chesed team have put together two brilliant ways to enable you to fulfil two of the four Purim mitzvot while helping people in need. You can give Matanot L'evyonim (charity to help people in need) which will be distributed on the day of Purim and you can also buy Mishloach Manot (edible gifts) which will be delivered by US Chesed to recipients of our essential food parcels. That's Purim giving made easy. Donate and buy now by clicking here.
