Last night we had the honour and sad privilege to hold a memorial service for Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at St John's Wood United Synagogue, with some 3,000 people watching both online and in-person.
The Chief Rabbi extended his blessings to King Charles III on behalf of the Jewish community of Great Britain and the Commonwealth. He paid tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II, and said: "We are so immensely proud of the fact that our Queen was such a remarkable role model for all of humankind."
In a humorous and poignant address, former Prime Minister Theresa May reflected on her interactions with the Queen. She said: "Her Late Majesty was quite simply the most remarkable person I have ever met." She spoke of the Queen's level of care for others, and reminisced about visits to Balmoral and her weekly Audiences with the Queen as Prime Minister.
You can watch the service here. You can read the historic Order of Service we produced here. You can also watch the Chief Rabbi's own tribute to Her Majesty The Queen on YouTube by clicking here.
We're very grateful to all our contributors and everyone who worked so hard to organise the service at short notice.

Kosher by Appointment
In 1997, the Queen hosted the President of Israel, Ezer Weizman for a Royal Banquet. With 200 guests to cater for and some 50 keeping kosher, there was just one major issue that the Palace had to contend with - providing a high quality kosher meal. Read the story of how this happened by clicking the link below.
