Football clubs are often in the news for the wrong reasons. Local clubs for local fans have been replaced by multi-million pound businesses for a global audience.
So it’s always nice to celebrate when a club does something for its local community. Last week Premier League side Watford FC hosted more than 100 Watford fans for a Chanukah party held at Vicarage Road. Our very own Rabbi Mordechai Chalk, Rabbi of Watford and District United Synagogue led the candle lighting ceremony. Watford FC told us they believe it is the first time a Premier League club has hosted a Chanukah party for supporters. Click here to read more.

Schools need your skills!
Could you be a governor at a United Synagogue school? We need you to help shape our children’s future. Becoming a Foundation Governor of one of the seven United Synagogue schools, located in the suburbs of North East, North and North West London, allows you to shape the education our children receive. Foundation Governors make an important contribution to our local community and the wider Jewish future. For more information, click here.

Covid: updated guidance
The Omicron variant continues to cause concern across the country. Following the Prime Minister’s announcement last night, we have issued updated guidance for our communities which you can read here.
In line with the new Government policy, face masks are now required for all attendees for all indoor services and activities. This is apart from when eating or drinking, or for those aged under 11, and will take effect as of tomorrow morning (Friday 10th December).
If you need support, the United Synagogue Coronavirus Helpline remains available on 020 8343 5696. Click here for more information on it. We pray the new variant will not be as bad as scientists fear.
