From Leipzig to Lagos
Mark Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Memorial Day, with US Chesed and Hampstead Synagogue as we discuss the changing experience of refugees then and now. Gerry Grunberg, who escaped Germany in 1939 aged 6, will be in conversation with Funmilola Balogun who fled domestic abuse and the threat of FGM in Nigeria in 2011. The discussion will be moderated by Henry Grunwald OBE QC. Lord Alf Dubs will deliver a keynote speech with candle lighting and memorial prayers by Hampstead's Rabbi Dr Michael Harris. The event will take place on Thursday, 28 April at 7.30pm at Hampstead Synagogue. Tickets are free and can be booked here.

BBC One: A believer's guide to growing older
Ivor Lethbridge, a member of Woodford Forest United Synagogue, is going to feature in a BBC One documentary next week! He'll be appearing together with his grandson, Zak, because 83-year-old Ivor is celebrating his second bar mitzvah at the same time as 13-year-old Zak's first bar mitzvah! Mazal tov!

Fast of the Firstborn
Traditionally, firstborn men attend a short ‘siyum’, the completion of a tractate of Mishnah or Talmud, on the morning of Erev Pesach.
This removes the requirement to fast on the Fast of the Firstborn. We’ll be offering a siyum live online this year hosted by Rabbi Daniel Roselaar, Rav of Kehillat Alei Tzion, who will finish the end of Mishna Seder Moed.
