As the cost-of-living crisis persists, the United Synagogue Chesed (Welfare) Department and our incredible synagogue volunteers perform countless acts of kindness – providing critical support to thousands of our members and those in the wider community throughout the year.
Today we're launching our matched giving campaign. Please help us raise as much money as possible, to ensure that everyone who needs our help in the coming year will receive it.
Whether it’s an elderly person needing essential food packages every week, a family who simply can’t afford to make Pesach or a person in hospital for weeks with no visitors – US Chesed wants to help everyone who needs it.
Any donation you can make, big or small, will bring us closer to our goal – and it will be doubled by our generous matched funders.
To give you an idea of what US Chesed does, in 2022...
- 736 families received Pesach food parcels or supermarket vouchers
- More than 120 families received weekly parcels of essential food and household necessities
- 3,300 meals were cooked and delivered to families from 46 United Synagogue communities along with 2,847 bags of fresh food and 1,271 bags of non-perishable food
- 38 Hospital Chaplains supported thousands of Jewish patients, families and staff of all denominations
- More than 100 asylum seekers and their families received regular practical support.
We've made a dedicated page for You&US readers so we can make our donations together. Click here to see it. Thank you for your generous support!
