Next week we are launching the biggest listening exercise the United Synagogue has undertaken for many years. From Monday, United Synagogue members will be sent a link to a survey to ask how we and our communities have done during the pandemic and get our members’ thoughts on coming back to shul, attending programmes online or joining activities in person.
The results will help our Chairs and Honorary Officers, our Rabbis and Rebbetzens, our shul professional teams and the United Synagogue head office think through how best to plan for the Yamim Noraim (High Holy Days) and the coming year.
Please look out for the invitation to take part in the survey. Your responses are very important: the more members who fill in the survey, the better the data will be to help us plan ahead and meet your needs. It will take about ten minutes to complete.
You could also win a £100 Amazon voucher! Two lucky people who complete the survey will each win one. The survey is confidential and is being administered centrally by the United Syagogue.
If your invitation to complete the survey has not arrived by Wednesday (12 May), please check your junk/spam folders. If there are any problems or for any queries, please email survey@theus.org.uk. We’ve also set up a special phone line for our members who don’t have access to the internet and are writing to them directly to invite them to take part.
Thank you for being a member of the United Synagogue.

The Secret of Life
The secret of life is just that I believe - a secret About which the only fact Available to us, is that Only God knows it
So let every woman and man Try, daily as best as they can Individually, with a friend, husband or wife To be healthy, happy and successful in life
Maybe consider thanking God For whatever maybe our lot In life, since we have all got As I understand it one-shot Here and now at living this life Which can be spent in strife Or in as much harmony In our lives, as can be
This thought may well be anathema to many Who have incurred much suffering already And for who the future looks bleak I do hope that this poem can speak To you in particular on some level And that we all, in our own way, will Enjoy life now, or before too long As I wish you a Shabbat Shalom.
