I'm not sure I could be a rabbi. I'm not sure I could cope with the pressure of finding the right thing to say at the right time every day of the week. But our rabbis - and rebbetzens - do just that around the clock. They help us grieve. They visit us in hospital. They comfort us when we're alone.
They're present at our happiest moments - by our side for a wedding, a bat mitzvah or a brit milah. They entreat us on Rosh Hashanah and inspire us on Yom Kippur.
They drop off food, invite us to their home and pick up their phone to us late at night.
Most of this work happens quietly and goes unnoticed by the wider community. This is why we were delighted to get a call recently from journalist Isabella McRae asking if she could visit Bushey United Synagogue and meet their Community Rabbi, Rabbi Nick Kett, to learn about what his job entails.
Isabella has written a wonderful article which lifts the lid on the life of a busy rabbi. You can read it here.

Purim: A Woman’s Voice
As we read in the Megillah, Esther used her voice and her position to save the Jewish people from destruction. Ahead of Purim, we asked women from across the United Synagogue to share their favourite verse from the Megillah, and share some meaningful thoughts with us. Watch our short film here. Check out our online learning opportunities below, too, and our on-demand Purim programmes on TheUS.tv.

Ukraine still in our prayers
More than 2,000 people have watched our Ukraine Crisis Briefing so far - we're so glad it's been well received. You can watch it here. Sadly the war shows no sign of stopping and we continue to pray for peace. Please join us in saying Psalm 120, Psalm 121 and Acheinu.
In partnership with other organisations, we are looking at how we can offer additional support to Ukrainian refugees coming to the UK.
