Today we launch Chevra, a new event to bring together non-married Jewish individuals to form an empowering and welcoming community, based on social action, fun and friendship.
We've received feedback from our members about the needs of singles, particularly those who are older and we are pleased to be responding to this need.
Our first event will take place from 7.30-9.30pm on Wednesday 30 August at Borehamwood & Elstree Synagogue. Join us for an evening of social action and connection as we pack back-to-school kits with US Chesed for children who cannot afford the basic essentials. Non-US members are welcome too.
To register and for more information, click here. The event is free.
Want to win a £50 Amazon voucher? Click here to tell us your views on what provision you would like to see for older, non-married individuals.
Zehava Gordon, the brains behind Chevra, told us: "We want to remove the stigma around being single and give people a space to be part of the Jewish community and feel empowered. We really want to hear your views, partly just to listen but also to use that information to inform what provision we should put in place."
You can contact Zehava on 020 8343 6260 or zgordon@theus.org.uk.

EcoJudaism Environmental Audit Awards
A huge mazal tov to three of our communities who have won awards following the latest EcoJudaism Environmental Audits. These awards are not easy to come by and are the result of considerable effort on the part of our shuls - kol hakavod and thank you to everyone involved.
Both Magen Avot United Synagogue and Northwood United Synagogue are now proud owners of the Silver award and Hampstead Garden Suburb United Synagogue has picked up a Bronze. Mazal tov!

There won't be a You&US email next week but we'll be back in your inbox on August 10 and throughout the summer.

Design our new
Rosh Hashanah card!
Each year US Chesed produces 2,000 beautiful Rosh Hashanah cards which are sent to older members of our community and people who have had a difficult year, along with a honey cake.
This year one lucky child will have the chance for their very own card design to be used as the official US Chesed Rosh Hashanah card for 2023/5784, and will also win a prize! For more information on how to enter, click the link below. Entries close on Friday 4 August 2023.
Good luck! We'll share the winning entry next month.

Rosh Hashanah honey cakes for those in need
US Chesed's Rosh Hashanah project sends some of our more vulnerable members a honey cake and a card from the United Synagogue. This year is no different and we aim to focus on older members, people who have been bereaved, members who have been unwell, people who are isolated, and those who have had a tough year. If you would like to place an order for your community, please use the link below and ensure you liaise with your shul's Care Coordinator, making sure to submit only one application per community.
